UPS has had an active participation in national, regional, continental, and international competitions. It operates through two primary fronts:
Athletes from the UPS have competed in prestigious international events such as the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Athletics Championships, World Cups, and African Nations Cups among others
This focuses on managing and developing professional sports clubs within the UPS. These clubs represent the Service in various competitive arenas, showcasing the athletic talent and discipline of UPS personnel.
This involves organizing sports events for UPS staff at different levels, including station-level activities, regional competitions, and major events such as the annual Commissioner General of Prisons (CGP) and Inter Forces Sports and Games Tournament. These activities promote camaraderie, enhance morale, and encourage a healthy lifestyle among UPS staff.

All these clubs are based within the Luzira Prisons Complex, which serves as a central location for the UPS's sports activities. The Luzira Complex provides a well-equipped and strategic environment for the training and competition of these clubs.
