PRESIDENT MUSEVENI PASSES OUT 106 SENIOR SECURITY OFFICERS

Strengthening leadership capacity among senior security officers remains a key pillar in building institutions that effectively contribute to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. This was emphasized as His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over the passout ceremony of 106 participants who successfully completed the Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course (AJSPELDC) at the National Leadership Institute (NALI), Kyankwanzi.

The ceremony, held at State House Entebbe, brought together senior officers from Uganda’s security sector and other sister intelligence agencies who completed the leadership development program aimed at strengthening their understanding of national priorities, leadership responsibilities and development approaches.

In his address to the officers, HE. President Museveni highlighted the importance of leaders contributing to the growth of the money economy and promoting socio-economic transformation. He challenged the officers to become change agents by supporting initiatives that promote wealth creation, productivity and national development.

The cohort comprised 52 senior officers from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), 10 senior officers from the Uganda Prisons Service (UPS), 10 senior officers from the Uganda Police Force (UPF), alongside officers from other sister security and intelligence agencies.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Ocaya, attended the ceremony, while the Commissioner General of Prisons was represented by Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons Hillary Bisanga, who is in charge of Human Resource Management.

The event was also attended by leaders and directing staff from the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi, who guided the participants throughout the course.

The AJSPELDC provides senior officers with knowledge and leadership skills to enhance their ability to serve effectively, understand national development priorities and contribute to the transformation of society.

The completion of the course reflects continued efforts by Uganda’s security institutions to develop professional leaders capable of responding to emerging challenges and supporting the country’s development agenda.
